Reddit Funny Best of All Time
Hundreds of posts make it onto the front page of Reddit every day, but few will ever rise high enough to sit among Reddit's all-time highest-rated posts. Only the very best earn that honor.
So, in this article, we list some of the highest-rated Reddit posts of all time. Naturally, some subreddits are more popular than others, so we're limiting this list to one post per subreddit.
10. Police Brutality (r/publicfreakout)
In America, tensions between the public and the police are long-established. Everything came to a head again in 2020 with the murder of George Floyd.
This video shows a member of law enforcement standing in front of his team, claiming that "everybody's trying to shame us", while interspersed with clips of police brutality.
It's not an easy watch, so proceed with caution.
9. Showing a Game to Someone Special (r/gaming)
It's a wonderful thing to be able to share your passions with family and friends. When it comes to video games, that can be tricky if you've been playing the game for years, have mastered everything about it, and thus have a different perspective.
This comic, upvoted 269,000 times, represents that charmingly. The experienced player is shielding the younger one from enemy fire while they learn the controls.
If you've ever taught someone the ropes on games like World of Warcraft or Fortnite, you should relate to this comic.
8. Thirsty Frog Takes a Bath (r/aww)
Animals and Reddit go together like peanut butter and jelly. That's why this clip of a small frog jumping in a lid of water got over 278,000 upvotes.
Apparently the video was recorded when it was 110 degrees, so it's understandable that the frog needed to cool itself off.
If only life could be that relaxing all the time.
7. All News Anchors Say the Same Thing (r/videos)
"This is extremely dangerous to our democracy."
Those words are repeated ad nauseam in this video, which shows what happens when one company owns lots of local news stations. You might think it's ironic that all of these Fox stations are worried about biased reporting when they're all saying the same thing.
Indeed, over 280,000 Reddit users agreed when they upvoted this post, with one commenter noting how Orwellian the situation was.
6. The Earth Is Not Flat (r/memes)
The idea that the Earth is flat is an age-old conspiracy theory. There are an alarmingly large number of people (read: more than one) who believe our planet isn't round.
This 310,000 upvoted meme shows a series of YouTube videos of a man coming to terms with the fact that the Earth is not flat.
"Top proof that we are not a spinning ball," reads the first video. A few months later, the final video shows a change of heart. "I am an ex-flat Earther."
5. NYC Taxi Drivers Calendar (r/funny)
You might not expect this post to have over 300,000 upvotes based on the picture alone, but this is a classic example of Reddit running with something silly.
The person who posted this was in a cab when the driver excitedly showed them that they were on the front of the New York City Taxi Drivers calendar for 2018.
In the comments, the original poster reveals that this taxi driver also had the honor of being Mr. December.
4. The Senate (r/movies)
Once the highest rated post in Reddit history, and now in fourth place, is this meme which gained over 350,000 upvotes. It instructs users to upvote the post so that the image of Chancellor Palpatine from Star Wars appears whenever anyone searches Google for "The Senate."
Surprisingly, the post is on r/movies, rather than the more suitable r/PrequelMemes (where people post memes about the Star Wars prequels.)
As any Star Wars fan will know, Chancellor Palpatine didn't have the best intentions, so this post is poking fun at the United States Senate. Sadly, the image doesn't actually appear when you search Google, so the ruse failed.
3. Joe Biden Elected President (r/news)
After four years of Donald Trump running the US, many citizens were ready for change. And if there's one thing that gets Reddit users fired up, it's politics.
As such, when Joe Biden won the 2021 US presidential election, this post immediately amassed a huge number of upvotes.
Not only that, but it also has over 28,000 comments with users celebrating and commiserating. Not quite record numbers, but certainly a lot when compared to the other all-time upvoted posts.
2. $GME GO BRRR (r/wallstreetbets)
For a period in early 2021, all eyes were on GameStop. The company's stock was soaring. News spread like wildfire that if you wanted to make money and stick it to Wall Street, you had to buy stocks in GameStop.
The precise details of that story are best explained in our story on how Reddit and GameStop beat the bankers.
During the fun, someone bought a billboard in New York to display the message "$GME GO BRRR". $GME being the symbol for GameStop's stock, while "go brrr" is from another meme and essentially mimics the sound of printing money.
1. Rick Astley Rides a Bike (r/pics)
"We're no strangers to love, you know the rules and so do I."
If you hear those immortal words, it means you've been Rickrolled. While Rick Astley was initially bemused by his internet fame that began in 2006, he soon embraced it.
The love for Rick hasn't died down. On June 17, 2020, the real Rick took to Reddit to share a retro snap of him riding a bike backstage on his first tour in Vegas.
Reddit went wild and graced the post with 438,000 upvotes.
Thousands of Upvotes Equals Plenty of Reddit Karma
This has been a round-up of the most-popular Reddit posts of all time. Of course, it's an ever-changing list, so this is merely a snapshot in time.
The people behind these posts are now swimming in Reddit karma. Why don't you post something on Reddit and see if it appears on this list in the future?
